Welcome

Namaste and Hello,

Three Cups of Roxy (not tea) is dedicated to promoting the cultural treasures and well-endowed splendor of the Himalaya. Nepal's astonishing natural topography encompasses the world-renowned, alpine nirvana surrounded by the highest peaks on earth. The terrain also includes lush emerald jungles and in between the plains and peaks are layers of serene, rugged foothills. The magnificent landscape, combined with  the legendary hospitality of the Nepalese and their unique cultures make for a lifetime highlight for travelers!

I was born and raised in the developing world named Planet Earth (specifically Idaho, northwest USA) and first visited Nepal in the mid-1990's (then, the only Hindu kingdom in the world, and now, one of the world's newest republics), and return every available chance.
My best suggestion for visiting Nepal is to explore away from the beaten footpaths - the mid-hills on up to the Himalayan peaks maintain a timeless mystique and are graced with well-preserved cultures that still follow ancient customs and traditions. The breathtaking natural beauty is a sight to behold and the welcoming people along the way make a journey in the Himalayan foothills a heartwarming, unforgettable experience!

You might even enjoy a cup of roxy (or two...or three!) while you are at it. Fermented spirits of Nepal include roxy (distilled) and chhyang (not distilled), both produced from locally grown maize, rice, millet and sometimes fruit. These potations are indispensable for entertaining guests and occasionally refreshing the mind and body! You will also have many chances to savor the national beverage, chiyaa, sweetened milk tea,  often with local spices mixed in, too. Your hosts will likely have these in-house and will join you, as will neighbors and friendly onlookers and so on!

While traveling the  footpaths  of Nepal, at some point along the journey you will likely be invited to enjoy a cup of roxy (or two...or three!). Fermented spirits of Nepal include roxy (distilled) and chhyang  (not distilled), both home-brewed from locally grown maize, rice, millet and sometimes fruit. These potations are indispensable for entertaining guests and occasionally replenishing vitality! Or, at least savor the national beverage, chiyaa, sweetened tea with fresh milk and usually jazzed up with local spices.

Your hosts will likely have all of these brews in-house and will  join you, and often, so will their neighbors and friendly onlookers and so on! Sit back and soak in the culture and savor the natural surroundings of the Himalaya on the journey of a lifetime!

Cheers and enjoy responsibly! Please comment below if  inspired to do so. It would be nice to hear from Himalayanists on the other side of cyberspace.
